The Cuban and Venezuelan teams will compete in the grand final of the Pan American Children’s Baseball Tournament (11-12 years) after beating the United States and the Dominican Republic in the semifinals of the event dedicated to the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña.
The Cuban team defeated the U.S. team 11-1 and thus advanced to the final undefeated with a 6-0 record, while the Venezuelans surprised the Dominicans with a score of 2-1, who in the process broke a streak of five consecutive victories that they had registered.
The final match between Cuba and Venezuela will take place this Thursday at two in the afternoon at the number one softball stadium of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center (COJPD).
On offense for the Cubans, Oliver Monteagudo led the attack by hitting a three-run home run.
For Venezuela, the most outstanding players were Enge García, whose only hit was a solo home run, as well as Caonabo Cosme, who hit two hits in three official turns.
The victory went to Venezuelan reliever Enger García, while the loss fell to Wilfred Figueroa.
For third place
The match for third place between the Dominican Republic and the United States will be held at ten o’clock this Thursday morning at the number one softball stadium of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
Likewise, Luis Mercedes, general director of the Pan American Children’s Baseball Tournament, reported that the award ceremony for the champion and runner-up teams, as well as the Most Valuable Player of the final and the most outstanding players of the tournament will be recognized in an activity to be held on Thursday night at the Wala Hotel in Boca Chica.
