Machado: Cabello’s appointment to the Interior Ministry shows “fractures”

María Corina Machado

Maria Corina Machado believes that Maduro is currently at his “weakest point” because, in her opinion, he has lost legitimacy. The opposition leader assures that they will maintain the pressure on the streets

The founder of the political organization Vente Venezuela, María Corina Machado, said on Tuesday, August 27, that the appointment of Diosdado Cabello as the new Minister of the Interior shows that there are “fractures” in the administration of Nicolás Maduro, since in her opinion there is an “unstable system” where only “terror, lies and repression remain, which is not sustainable.”

This was stated by Machado in an interview with NTN24where she said that she does not have a specific date on which the political crisis that is evident in the country will end, but she is sure that “the liberation of Venezuela” will take place. She added that the objective was to have it resolved on July 28, but clarified that it is a complex stage.

“We have made significant progress in the direction of freedom and the enforcement of popular sovereignty,” he added.

He considered that Maduro is currently at his “weakest point” because, in his opinion, he has lost legitimacy, so he pointed out that pressure must be increased on the Executive to make it understand that the solution to the national crisis must be through a negotiation that leads to a peaceful and democratic transition.

He stressed that the democratic world has reacted to the “forcefulness and evidence” of what has happened, and asserted that Venezuelans have turned the situation in Venezuela into a global cause and believes that, after the mobilization of August 17 in various cities around the world, people have come to understand what Venezuelans have been experiencing for the past 25 years.

“We are not going to let go of the street and we have to keep up the pressure. It is a resilient, challenging and prudent street,” stressed Machado.

She said that every day that passes, progress is made on several lines to achieve the necessary changes in the country and pointed out that she, along with the opposition presidential candidate, Edmundo González, hold daily meetings with politicians around the world and, in addition to receiving support, they request specific things from each of them.

He also spoke about what he has suffered while in hiding following the threats he has received from the regime.

“I really miss being in contact with people, with my team and my children,” he said.
