Monsignor René Leigue, Archbishop of Santa Cruzsuffered a sudden pulmonary complication on his second day of recovery after surgery. According to the medical report provided by the director of the Catholic Hospital, Dorian Jiménez, the archbishop was diagnosed with pulmonary atelectasis associated with pneumoniawhich led to his admission to the intensive care unit.
The report details that Leigue is stable and connected to a respirator, with laboratory indicators that show a favorable response.
The complication arose after the archbishop was subjected to a surgical intervention on August 23 to treat acute appendicitis with localized peritonitis, according to the Archdiocese of Santa Cruz.
The archbishop was admitted to hospital after experiencing dabdominal odor, fever, nausea, and an increase in white blood cell levels.
