Despite a drop in the variation of new confirmed cases of the virus, the positivity record of the last 24 hours is the highest since June 24, 2020 (29.02%).

According to the portfolio led by Dr. Enrique Paris, the variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is -6% and 28% for the comparison with the previous 7 and 14 days, respectively. The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, commented that “today the variation of new confirmed cases of Covid-19 compared to the same day of the previous week continues to show a decrease as reported in recent days.”

In this regard, he explained that “if on Saturday, February 12, we had a 9% variation over 7 days, today this indicator corresponds to -6%, that is, a lower growth of new cases between both days, while the variation over 14 days This Saturday is 28% compared to the previous Saturday, which was 106%. If we go back to Saturday, February 5, the variation at 7 days corresponded to 53%, while at 14 days it was 200%.

“As we find ourselves in the middle of summer, since many families are on their vacation period, with greater social interaction, our perception of risk may be diminished in the midst of our daily activities,” said the Minister of Health.

In this sense, Minister Paris was emphatic in pointing out that “it is very important to reinforce our self-care actions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 by using the mask correctly, replacing it with a new one when it gets wet, avoiding crowds, always preferring outdoor activities and if it is indoors, opt for places that request the Mobility Pass upon entry and have good ventilation.

The health authority at the same time called on the population to maintain the vaccination rate, as an effective and safe action to protect themselves from Covid-19.

“Today, Saturday, we have more than 40 vaccination points in the Metropolitan region so that those who have not been able to get their booster dose during the week can do so this Saturday. The Covid-19 vaccine is safe, free and has proven effective in preventing admission to the ICU and death. In minsal.cl and the social networks of the Seremis you will be able to find places and times for today”, concluded the Secretary of State.
