Countless generations have I have lived in the world listening to the harsh voice of American imperialism saying that God or Fortune sanctified the United States from its origin. Furthermore, the founding fathers paved the way for a fate that would forever make that country the best of the best.
The US was a colony of settlement, it is often said, to differentiate it from the Spanish colonies, which were of conquest. In the US, a crystalline veil was cast over the massacres of the native American populations and the theft of their lands by the European colonizers. That country did not take 55 percent of its territory from Mexico in the mid-nineteenth century. Between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, the European colonists and their perverse fate brought from Africa, to the colonized lands, more than half a million blacks turned into slaves, from whom some 47 million descend (sur)ive today in the US, superexploited and discriminated against. The war of the North against the slave-owning South (1861-1865) had as its main objective the liberation of the slaves in order to convert them into wage labor needed for the industrial expansion of the North; history records the brutal levels of exploitation of the slaves. released
The American dream was carried around the world, with ruthless colonialism, and endless wars and death throughout the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. There has never been a more ferocious empire and greater exploitation of humans in human history than that perpetrated by the US.
In accepting her candidacy, Kamala Harris urged Americans to To fight for the ideals we hold dear and to uphold the enormous responsibility that comes with the greatest privilege on Earth: the privilege and pride of being an American.
What is Harris talking about? Basically, about privilege
of being part of the American ruling class: a ruthless historical advantage over others. The others
for the most part, do not have that privilege, even if they are Americans. Yes, there are those like Harris, who jump from the ranks of the underdogs to the ranks of the privileged: a few. The American ruling class and its privileges extend their ties of horrific domination throughout the world, with its government, its guns and its dollar.
The gringos are capable of committing the most ominous horrors: they are born from the bloodthirsty capitalism that they defend as free world
But there are some horrors worse than others. Is Harris the same as Trump? Does it make any difference to us? The answer is not easy. It is certainly better for women in that country to have the right to abortion than for it to be punished, which would happen with Trump. The treatment of migrants and illegal immigration would be fierce with Trump and perhaps contained with Harris. Racial discrimination would be free with Trump, but not so free with Harris.
The US poverty rate is 17.8 percent, far higher than the 10.7 percent average of 25 other high-income nations. The child poverty rate more than doubled from 5.2 percent in 2021 to 12.4 percent in 2022. In 2022, 25 percent of the Native American population was below the poverty line; 17.1 percent of the Black population was, compared with 8.6 percent of whites. Trump is unfazed by these numbers. Harris may try to take action.
In 2024, the Doomsday Clock stands just 90 seconds away from the symbolic midnight that represents the end of the world; closer than ever since its ominous omens began 77 years ago. According to The New York Times (20/8/24), Biden approved a new top-secret weapons directive in March of this year. This directive assumes for the first time that Russia, China and North Korea – and perhaps Iran – could coordinate their nuclear potential to threaten American interests. In response to this news, the official Chinese newspaper, Global Times (GT), said that multi-front wars do not end successfully because of those who start them. If the US now focuses on a three-front war – Ukraine, the Middle East and the Pacific region – it will be playing with its own status as a world power. GT points out that the military-industrial complex does not care about the outcome of a war for the US: it makes money with every war.
The Swedish Sipri report on nuclear weapons from last January records an inventory of 12,121 warheads. Nine thousand 600 are classified as military arsenals
