Confiep: "Without teaching meritocracy there is no educational quality"

Carrera magisterial

34 organizations, guilds and private sector companies signed the “Pact for Quality Education”, in which they recognize the Executive’s observance of Law No. 1587 (“Law establishing educational measures in order to guarantee the labor rights of teachers hired for more than 3 years”).

In the statement, the unions assure that this bill “It would cause serious damage to the Public Teaching Career (CPM); incorporating – to the first rank – those teachers who did not want to submit to the evaluation processes established in the current regulations or did not pass them with the required score”.

They claim that the failed teachers who accepted temporary contracts cannot be granted the benefit of direct entry into the CPM, as this creates a situation of discrimination compared to the thousands of teachers who did comply with the current rules of the game and met all the legal requirements.

RELEASE

We firmly believe that meritocracy must be required of all teachers, without exception, to promote quality education that benefits millions of students and their families, and for the thousands of teachers appointed to the CPM for their own effort and merit. Let us not allow “false” doors to be opened for others to enter, without meritocratic evaluations, with this easy and populist measure.

For all these reasons, we call upon the Congress of the Republic not to promulgate this law No. 1587 out of insistence, and to proceed to its immediate archiving.

Let’s guarantee quality education for all Peruvians. The future of millions of students is in your hands. Let’s build a better Peru together.

Defending quality education is everyone’s job!
