The request is supported by the principles of international law established after the Nuremberg trials, which hold heads of state criminally responsible for serious crimes, regardless of their position.

According to Argentine prosecutor Eduardo Taiano, the federal courts are empowered to investigate such crimes based on Article 118 of the Constitution, which recognizes the principle of universal jurisdiction, and the international commitments assumed by the country.

«Since October 5, 2023, evidence, witnesses, and documentation were presented. It started with a smaller number of complainants, today there are 15, and our expectations are high because the international community has responded on occasion to many calls to raise their voices on the issue of Nicaragua.»said former Argentine ambassador to the OAS, Paula Bertol.

The Argentine justice The Court took up the complaint filed by lawyers Dario Richarte and Diego Pirota against Daniel Ortega, his wife Rosario Murillo and 16 other officials accused of crimes against humanity that remain unpunished, leaving a balance of more than 350 dead, 15 thousand victims and hundreds of political prisoners.
