Florinda Camayo Lapa: Legend of the Andes International Marathon passed away at 59

The long-distance runner from Huancayo Florinda Luz Camayo Lapa, champion in five editions of the Los Andes International Marathon, best national athlete in 1997, coach and teacher, passed away this Monday, August 26, as announced by her husband, Rubén Galeas Arana, through a publication on Facebook.

“With tears in my eyes and a deep pain in my heart I want to say goodbye to my friend, my partner, my wife. Take with you the good times we have lived during the 40 years we were together. I will never forget you Flori, you will always be in my heart.”was the message that her husband published accompanied by a photo of both of them.

Ten days ago, Florinda Luz Camayo Lapa was recognized by the Provincial Municipality of Huancayo, where her husband, Rubén Galeas Arana, was present and it was announced that the long-distance runner was in poor health in Lima, “My wife was a warrior, a fighter, Florinda, you have to keep fighting, you have won many things and now you have to keep winning. We should not wait for someone to be in a situation of illness to be recognized. (..) I am fighting with my wife against this terrible disease that she has had to live with.”said.
