Labor rights case at VW plant in Mexico has been resolved, US says

TO end of June authorities from both countries announced a remediation plan at the Volkswagen factory in Puebla, where the Mexican government had agreed to review alleged denials of workers’ rights.

“The governments of the United States and Mexico have collaborated to ensure the fundamental rights of workers to organize and bargain collectively,” Labor Department official Thea Lee said in the statement.

The German auto giant, which has been present in Mexico for seven decades, has one of its largest facilities in the world in Puebla. Volkswagen has another smaller factory in Silao, in the central state of Guanajuato.
