Academic background and curriculum
Víctor Rodríguez Padilla has a solid background in the field of energy. He graduated as a physicist from UNAM in 1983, completed a master’s degree in Energy Engineering at the same institution in 1985, and obtained his doctorate in Energy Economics from the Pierre Mendès France University in Grenoble in 1990.
Rodríguez Padilla is a Professor in the Department of Energy Systems at the Faculty of Engineering at UNAM, and a member of the National System of Researchers. He has been a consultant for the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, the Latin American Energy Organization, Oxfam, and the Climate Initiative Mexico.
He has served as an advisor to various government institutions, including the Senate of the Republic, the Chamber of Deputies, the Superior Audit Office of the Federation, the Judicial Council and the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.
His experience extends beyond the academic field, being one of the founders of the Citizen Observatory of Energy. He is an expert in energy economics and policy, as well as in the organization and regulation of energy industries, covering contracts, tax regime, energy security, energy transition, oil, natural gas, electricity and energy integration in North America.
