OMG Institute to hold second Congress on Contemporary Law focused on business

SANTO DOMINGO. – The OMG Institute will hold its second Congress on Contemporary Law (CDERC) on August 29 and 30 of this year at the Intercontinental Santo Domingo hotel. This edition will focus on the “Multiverse of Business” and will begin with the keynote lecture “Justice and Business,” given by the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Judge Luis Henry Molina.

The event, which aims to promote the versatility of the legal profession and keep legal professionals up to date in all their areas, will also feature the keynote lecture “Public-private partnerships and tourism,” which will be given by Dominican lawyer and academic, Sigmund Freund, first executive director of the General Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships of the Dominican Republic and current Minister of Public Administration.

Various panels will be presented with the participation of professionals from different sectors and disciplines, addressing the topics: “The stock market: an emerging industry” where Ernesto Bournigal, Superintendent of the Securities Market of the Dominican Republic, will participate; “Estate planning: the key to generational wealth”, “Corporate governance: an essential element in family businesses”, “Securities as a new business paradigm”, “Third-party funding as a mechanism for realizing international arbitration claims”; “New technologies and their impact on legal services, governance and management of professional firms”.

The CDERC is aimed at professionals, academics, government officials, judges, members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, businessmen and law students who seek to learn about the many ways in which contemporary legal professionals add value to the development of economic industries, public policies and academia.

The Second Congress of Contemporary Law (CDERC) has the support of AFP Popular, EGE Haina, INICIA, Logística Legal, OMG, Primma Valores, United Capital, among others.

About the OMG Institute

The OMG Institute (IOMG) is an initiative of the OMG Foundation, which seeks to promote research and teaching, as an institute specialized in research and training in legal sciences, was accredited in November 2010 by the National Council of Higher Education, Science and Technology (CONESCYT) and began its training programs in 2012. Its main mission is to add value to Dominican society through scientific research, aimed at generating proposals for legal solutions that contribute to the development of the Dominican Republic.

It teaches master’s degrees in Business Transaction Law, Public Economic Law and Legal Strategy, as well as a degree in Law, with a curriculum developed taking into account the needs of being a legal professional today: innovative and interdisciplinary, and with a teaching methodology that combines the economic analysis of law and the case methodology.
