Raquel Peña swears Luis Bonilla in as president of the “Development Plan for the San Juan de la Maguana province.”

San Juan, RD- The Vice President of the Republic Rachel Penaswore this Saturday, the engineer Luis Bonilla, as president of the “Development Plan of the province of San Juan de la Maguana.

The also coordinator of the Investment Promotion Cabinet, indicated that the Government headed by President Luis Abinader, has the firm intention of promoting the generation of wealth and jobs in this province.

“The productive sectors of this province, focused mainly on agricultural crops, have a great weight in the economy and, with the support of the central government, local governments and other organizations, we can promote the detonation of the economic development of our ‘granary of the south’ ” he indicated.

The official announced that 2 billion pesos have already been deposited in the Reserve Bank to finance the San Juan Plan.

“With the creation of this Cabinet, the improvement of the productive infrastructure of the province will be achieved, in addition there will be a boost in exports, greater generation of jobs, better training of human capital and support for entrepreneurship that promotes economic development by and for our people from the beautiful province of San Juan de la Maguana,” he said.

Peña assured that this province is not alien to him, since his father had tobacco plantations, while he lamented the decrease in the land of San Juan for the cultivation of tobacco and other items and assured that the central government is determined to change the future of those who live in the southern province.

The deputy president, at the end of the act, made a symbolic delivery of a machine to pack bales, which will benefit cattle and goat producers.

During the activity, held at the Association of Producers, Luis Bonilla, after being sworn in, indicated that President Luis Abinader is focused on improving the problems of this province.

“Here we are not only talking about developing the agricultural sector, but about the businesses of women who have small businesses and all the others,” Bonilla indicated.

San Juan Plan

On February 10, President Luis Abinader created through decree 64-22 the Plan for the Economic Development of the province of San Juan called (Plan San Juan), whose objective is to improve the productive infrastructure and promote the channeling of resources technical and financial.

Among the strategies to be used, established in the decree, it is determined to expand and diversify the productive and economic matrix of the region; channel technical support to economic development enterprises and initiatives in the region; promote alliances between producers and agribusinesses, processing, packaging, export and distribution companies; and promote the associativity of small agricultural producers through cooperatives and clusters or business groups for production and marketing, among others.

It is recalled that last year, President Luis Abinader declared San Juan in a state of emergency, due to the state of poverty and the deterioration of its resources, for which the government is executing a comprehensive development project with an investment greater than RD$4 billion.
