INEFOP has opened a call for training projects focused on young people

The National Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP) and the National Institute for Youth (INJU) launched a call for vocational training projects focused on young people between 15 and 24 years old. The initiative seeks to strengthen the employability conditions of this population, which has higher unemployment levels than the rest of the country, explained the director of INEFOP, Pablo Darscht.

The call is aimed at training entities. The launch also included the participation of the director of INJU, Aparicio Saravia.

INEFOP director Pablo Darscht explained that proposals are expected to be received that include courses and, in addition, support tools for job placement or for the reintegration of young people into the formal education system. The organization will allocate a budget of 35,000,000 pesos, with which between 15 and 20 projects will be financed, he said.

The objective of the measure is to improve the capabilities of young people for their insertion into the labor market. Darscht explained that unemployment among those under 25 is higher than that registered for other ages. While at the national level it is between 8 and 9%, among those under 25 it increases to one in four. “It is a permanent, structural challenge that we have as a country,” he said.

In addition to the technical quality of the proposals, those carried out in the departments with the highest youth unemployment rate will be considered. Initiatives from institutions with a longer track record will also be valued. Darscht explained that the evaluations show that there is a correlation between the track record of the institutions and the impact of the projects.

On this occasion, the evaluation team will be made up of INJU technicians. Its head praised the joint work between both institutions and pointed out that the great challenge of youth policies is to improve the training capacities of this population to keep pace with the new demands of the labor market.
