Zelaya was brought before the judge on Saturday, August 24, three days after being captured (August 21) in a residential area in the Villa Primero de Mayo area, in the capital of Santa Cruz.

The alleged kidnapper was arrested.

In audience, Zelaya claimed his innocence and insisted that neither he nor his wife were involved in the kidnapping of Brazilian businessman Marcos Ferreira. In fact, those arrested in the case and accused of having participated in the crime were not known or friends of his.

Last Wednesday, August 21, when he was arrested in the Villa Primero de Mayo area, he again stressed that he was not involved in the kidnapping; however, he was brought before a judge and placed under guard, so he will remain in custody. preventive detention in Palmasola prison, during 180 days, while investigations continue.

“The fact “Now they want to implicate me and have my wife detained is unfair. We have nothing to do with the kidnapping,” he declared in court.

Despite this, the evidence presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the investigations collected by the Police led the court to order his deprivation of liberty.

According to the police, the case was initiated due to an alleged debt, which they are seeking to have the Brazilian businessman pay.
