MERIDA, Mexico -. The Venezuelan opposition called for a new demonstration next Wednesday, one month before the elections.
“Act kills a sentence! That is why, when a month has passed since our glorious victory, in which Edmundo González was elected President, we Venezuelans are once again in the streets. This August 28th; as a family, with your children, with your grandchildren and with your act in hand, we ratify that Act Kills Sentence. Every day we are stronger and we will go all the way!!” reads the call distributed on the platforms and by opposition leaders.
On Saturday, the governments of Brazil and Colombia They reiterated in a statement who are still awaiting “the dissemination, by the National Electoral Council, of the minutes broken down by voting table.”
“The political normalization of Venezuela requires the recognition that there is no lasting alternative to peaceful dialogue and democratic coexistence in diversity,” insists the joint statement by Lula and Petro, who, while calling for avoiding repression, criticize the US sanctions against the Maduro regime.
Also this Saturday, the European Union issued a statement where he dismisses the Supreme Court ruling and states that “only complete and independently verifiable results will be accepted and recognized to ensure that the will of the Venezuelan people is respected.”
“The Venezuelan people must decide their own destiny. Their will must prevail. The European Union will continue to work with its regional partners to ensure that the will of the Venezuelan people as expressed at the ballot box is respected,” the joint statement reads.
Harris sends letter to Venezuelan opposition
On Friday, US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris sent a letter to opposition leaders in Venezuela where He highlighted the courage of that people.
“The recent events surrounding the presidential elections of July 28 highlight the urgent need for transparency and accountability in the Venezuelan electoral system,” reads the letter addressed to María Corina Machado and Edmundo González.
“I strongly urge the security forces in Venezuela to show restraint, respect the human rights and freedom of expression of all Venezuelans, and protect the Venezuelan people from political threats and attacks,” reads another part of the letter.

Also on Friday, Cuban-American Senator Marco Rubio led “a bipartisan and bicameral statement in which we condemn the decision of the Maduro narco-regime to try to further legitimize its arbitrary grip on power and undermine the will of the Venezuelan people.”
The statement was also signed by Senators Tim Kaine, Rick Scott, Dick Durbin, Bill Cassidy and Michael Bennet, as well as Cuban-American Representatives Mario Díaz-Balart, María Elvira Salazar and Carlos Giménez.
“This is not about political ideology, it is about defending the will of the Venezuelan people who overwhelmingly voted for Edmundo González as their president-elect, under the leadership of opposition leader María Corina Machado, and who is due to be sworn in on January 10, 2025. The United States must use all available authorities to hold accountable those responsible for this undemocratic and illegitimate act,” the document reads.
On Thursday, the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuela, controlled by Chavismo, ratified Maduro’s victory, thus consummating the electoral fraud.
The court suggested that the electoral body publish the minutes that the opposition has already gathered and published proving Edmundo González’s victory.
