What do we mean by well-being in the educational system?

Wellbeing in the educational system involves the ability of educators to know themselves, understand their teaching vocation, and understand students and their families. It is about integrating the whole person into a complex relationship, in which the priority is caring for the student rather than teaching specific content. The teacher creates a favorable environment and guides the process, but true learning arises from personal discoveries. Wellbeing is not measured by specific achievements, but rather develops over time.

Is this culture part of a system?

Yes, it is a culture of well-being that involves the entire educational community: teachers, students and their links with the environment where the institution is located. Unlike traditional education, which is fragmented and disconnected from the reality of students, this approach seeks a more comprehensive and contextualized vision.

Is there a correlation between this model and student success?

This model accepts, recognizes and encourages the development of each human being according to their qualities, with total respect. This is crucial because it helps students get to know themselves, something that many fail to achieve, even at the end of high school. They have no idea who they are.

What benefits does it offer compared to traditional education?

It is a more enriching approach. It questions what we really remember about our school experience and combats the feeling of worthlessness that many teenagers experience at school, where they often know how to get good grades without necessarily learning.

How does this approach apply to teenagers?

Workshops and activities can be implemented that young people welcome with enthusiasm, especially when they are given more freedom.

How can we change the Peruvian education system?

Creativity is required, a lot of creativity, good will that has to be at the very head of the Minedu. It cannot be a short-term project, but rather a long-term, complex one, a good projection that begins to measure other things, and not so much from the perspective of PISA and that kind of thing. It has to find a way to reach a consensus. We are very clear about what well-being means and that kind of thing, but how can it be achieved? That has to be invented for our country, for the particularities of each of the different zones and regions. School environments have to improve systematically, they must have more mobility. The classic classroom: blackboard, teacher, desks with students, was invented in the 18th century, and it remains exactly the same. It is no longer valid.
