MÉRIDA, Mexico – Two minors and two women were arrested murdered this Saturday in Ceballos, Ciego de Ávila, in an alleged robbery attempt.
According to a neighbor, CubanetThe incident occurred between 6 and 7 in the morning this Saturday, after the father of one of the families left for work.
“It seems that they came in to steal some money that the man had from sales,” said the neighbor, who asked not to be identified for fear of reprisals. His young son and his wife were present and were killed.
The other victim and his teenage son responded to the call of the first and were also killed.
The incident occurred in the “old bakery” neighborhood of Ceballos. The thieves were hiding in an abandoned house opposite the building where the murder occurred, said the neighbor.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, user Mislady Morell said that one of the victims was her cousin and the other was her cousin’s son, who was only 16 years old.
“It pains me greatly to have to make this post today. I feel immense pain, frustration, anger, rage and helplessness for what just happened to my cousin and her child,” said Morell.
“These four people lost their lives unscrupulously at the hands of a wild beast! This cannot be described in any other way! I hope that whoever did this pays for all the damage they have caused! Cuba is lost and we cannot save our loved ones from evil and misery,” he added.
Both in Morell’s publication as in the Facebook group Revolico Ceballoslocal residents have expressed their bewilderment and frustration at what happened, and have sent condolences to the families of the victims.
“For those who are asking what happened, it was that a man, a father, went to work on his farm at 6 am and left his wife and his little boy, who was only 3 years old, in his house, and they broke in and killed them, and two neighbors, a 16-year-old boy and his mother, went out to see what was happening and they were also killed,” neighbor Yonder Alejo recounted in the aforementioned group.
According to comments and other testimonies on social media, the names of the victims are as follows: the four-year-old boy was called Richard and his mother was called Yaima; the neighbour who came was called Raiza and her teenage son was called Lester.
There are no details available about whether there was one or more killers, and official media have not yet commented on the incident.
