Semar seizes 7.2 tons of cocaine

Personnel from the Mexican Navy (Semar) seized approximately 7.2 tons of cocaine and 1,100 liters of fuel that was used by criminal groups to refuel vessels used to transport drugs. In addition, during operations carried out on the coasts of Colima and Michoacán, 15 alleged drug traffickers were arrested.

In the first event, recorded southwest of Manzanillo, Colima, personnel aboard the Ocean Patrol Godinez and with the support of a helicopter type Pantherseized three small vessels with outboard motors and were transporting 126 packages with an approximate weight of 5 tons 600 kilos of cocaine. This seizure constitutes the largest seizure in a single event during the current administration.

In the second incident, Semar officers seized 32 packages with one ton 600 kilos of cocaine, which were floating off the coast of Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán.
