In a council session chaired by Mayor Marlem Mogollón Meca, the plenary session of the Provincial Municipality of Sullana The Council of Ministers unanimously approved the request to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) to declare a health emergency for the province’s sanitation and sewerage system. This measure seeks to ensure that the central government, through the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, executes without further delay the works to change the sewerage networks that Sullana urgently requires.
The decision was made during the council session, after the mayor reported that the said ministry has not yet been able to sign the contract with the winning bidders for the execution of the work “Expansion and improvement of drinking water and sewage services in the Human Settlements of Sullana, Bellavista, Marcavelica and Querecotillo”. This creates a serious risk that, once again, the start of this long-awaited work will be postponed.
