The Dominican Association of the Electrical Industry (ADIE) expressed its support for the comprehensive plan presented by Celso Marranzini for the recovery of the country’s electricity distribution companies (EDEs).
This plan, which includes a series of key measures to reduce technical and commercial losses, modernize infrastructure and strengthen management, should be received with optimism by the sector’s stakeholders, said ADIE Vice President Manuel Cabral F.
“The plan presented by Marranzini represents a crucial step towards the stabilization and modernization of the electric distribution system in the Dominican Republic. It is essential that the government has a clear and well-defined approach to address the challenges that have affected these companies for years, which are vital to guarantee an efficient and reliable electric supply for all Dominicans,” said Cabral.
He said that ADIE has been a strong advocate of comprehensive planning in the electricity sector, advocating the need to address all aspects of this crucial area for national development.
“We have long stressed the importance of strategic planning to anticipate and mitigate the structural weaknesses of the sector. Marranzini’s plan is a step in the right direction, and we are confident that, with the support of all the sectors involved, we will achieve the proposed objectives,” added Cabral.
ADIE’s Executive Vice President stressed that the focus on loss reduction, infrastructure modernization and the implementation of advanced technologies are essential measures that will contribute not only to the improvement of EDEs, but also to the stability and sustainability of the electricity system as a whole.
Cabral defined the reactivation of the interest of multilateral credit organizations, which have secured more than 650 million dollars in financing, as a relevant aspect. He considered that this support is a testimony of the renewed confidence in the Dominican electrical system and underlines the importance of having a robust and well-articulated plan.
“The recovery of interest from multilateral organizations is crucial, not only because it provides the necessary financing for the modernization of distribution networks, but also because it reflects the international recognition that the Dominican Republic is taking the right steps to strengthen its electricity sector,” said Manuel Cabral.
ADIE reaffirms its commitment to the development of the Dominican electricity sector and its willingness to work closely with the government and other relevant actors to ensure the success of this initiative, which is essential for the progress and well-being of the nation.
