Nicaraguan dictator Daniel Ortega defended his wife and “co-dictator” Rosario Murillo, saying with laughter “How the dogs howl!” in reference to the criticism made by Nicaraguan opponents to the sanctioned and executing hand of the repression that the country is experiencing, during an event at the Hugo Chávez roundabout.

“What did Don Quixote say to Sancho? If the dogs howl, it is because we are walking and they hate that we are walking, because our companion has been nothing more than communicating the truth every day, about what is being done for the benefit of the people, the poor, the workers, the peasants, all sectors,” said Ortega.

During his speech, Ortega heaped praise on Murillo, who recently announced a state sweep disguised as an “institutional reorganization” that has left thousands of state workers unemployed. Murillo also implemented a law that seeks to link the remaining NGOs in Nicaragua to the State.

For political analyst Dora María Téllez, Daniel Ortega has become an “approver” of the orders of Rosario Murillo, who is actually the brains behind the dictatorship that seeks to establish a dynasty in Nicaragua.

Ortega has reduced his public appearances; however, Murillo is the one who dictates the government’s actions on a daily basis in his telephone, television and radio broadcasts.

“A coup d’état was intended to intimidate the people and turn them against the revolution and its achievements. They have no choice but to howl, because we are going to continue bringing well-being,” said Ortega, referring to the anti-government demonstrations since April 2018, which were repressed by the Sandinista police and paramilitaries on Murillo’s orders.

The vice-dictator Rosario Murillo, who “self-proclaims” herself a Christian, declared a monstrosity built of iron and colored light bulbs, which was erected with a painting showing the face of the deceased Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chávez (also known as the Plaza Inter roundabout), a “sanctuary” and “miraculous temple.”

In his usual speech, he said that the spirit of the deceased Venezuelan dictator and his soul reside in that monument, contrary to Christian teachings.

The spokesperson for the Sandinista dictatorship claims that the roundabout built in homage to Chavez is a “sacred” place that possesses the energy of the former Venezuelan president. For an evangelical pastor who preferred to remain anonymous, Murillo does not agree between his Christian discourse and his statements that fall into ignorance or Satanism.

“The Bible teaches in the book of Hebrews 9:27 that a human being who dies cannot return to earth in another form (not physical); there is no middle ground, there is no possibility of remaining on earth in the form of a spirit, much less believing that the soul of a dead person can remain in an earthly place,” says the evangelical.

Last February, Murillo stated that the Hugo Chávez roundabout “had powers” and instructed state workers, including deputies and ministers, to arrive at the roundabout with floral arrangements in honor of the 25th anniversary of the triumph of the Venezuelan regime, which is now sustained under the military yoke by fraud, prison and terror, very similar to the Sandinistas in Managua.

Dictator Daniel Ortega, through presidential decree 11-2024, ordered the reform of executive decree 13-2008 on the creation of the Commission for the Development of the San Juan River. The objective is to remove powers from that entity and, at the same time, order the creation of a state-owned company.

“The dredging functions carried out by the San Juan River Development Commission will be transferred to a state-owned company that will be created for this purpose,” the dictator states in the presidential decree.

In addition, it indicates that the functions of the San Juan River Development Commission will now only be focused on “study, tourism, docks, ecology and promotion of artisanal fishing, and ultimately the total improvement of the area, in order to coordinate the application of environmental and development policies, plans and actions for its protection and conservation.”
