In the sector, residents insistently demanded the completion of the barracks and more patrols in the face of violence.
The government yesterday inaugurated the National Police detachment in the Ensanche Luperón sector, in the National District, with the aim of continuing to improve the working conditions of the agents and strengthening security in the area.
The barracks were a protest by the community due to the prevailing violence and crime. Vice President Raquel Peña and the Minister of the Interior and Police, Faride Raful, led the event.
Peña reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the police in order to continue with the police reform process, dignifying the law enforcement institution in terms of physical infrastructure and improving the efficiency of the service.
“We continue to invest in the construction of more infrastructure and the necessary equipment so that the National Police is prepared and can guarantee the protection of the physical integrity of all Dominicans and respect for property,” said the official.
Meanwhile, Raful said that the Ministry of the Interior and Politics will continue the transformations promised by President Luis Abinader and will deepen them.
He invited citizens to join in building a safer country.
Raful explained that the work had a total investment of RD$20,205,326.89 and on the first floor there is a jail divided for men and women, kitchen-dining room, ladies’ bedroom, criminal investigation department, general bathrooms, visitors’ bathrooms, storage, reception, waiting room and the office for receiving complaints.
On the second level are the men’s dormitories, the deputy commander’s apartment, the adjutant’s office, the meeting room, the commander’s office and the commander’s bedroom.
He also spoke at the event Angel of the Crosspresident of the Presidential Commission for Provincial Development, who said that the new building will impact more than 14,000 residents of Ensanche Luperón and the surrounding neighborhoods.
