How to get there?
To get to Cascada La 70 from Bogotá, you must take the Casanare road that runs through the picturesque municipality of Machetá. As you continue, you will pass through Guateque, a route that will take you to a series of 14 rock tunnels, an exciting experience for any traveler.
These tunnels, in addition to offering a unique view, have the particularity that it rains inside them, which adds a touch of magic to the tour.
As you exit the last tunnel, you’ll be just a few minutes away from the waterfall. From Bogotá, the trip can be done in a single day, making it an ideal plan for a quick getaway.
The path
The trip to the waterfall is best enjoyed in a private car or motorbike. This means of transport will allow you not only to get there easily but also to appreciate the impressive landscape surrounding the area, with views of the Embalse de la Esmeralda and the surrounding mountains.
From Bogotá, you must follow the route towards Macanal. Once you reach the Esmeralda reservoir, turn left at the end of the reservoir.
This path will take you through a final tunnel and you will cross a military checkpoint before taking an unpaved road that you must follow for approximately 10 minutes.
