Residents of the El Pensador sector in Villa Duarte, Santo Domingo Este, reported today, August 23, that they have gone exactly two months without receiving drinking water. Faced with this situation, they made an urgent call to the Santo Domingo Water and Sewer Corporation (CAASD) to resolve the problem.
“From June 23 until today, August 23, we have gone two months without a single drop of water. We are going through an extremely difficult situation,” said the housewives of the area, who expressed that desperation has invaded all the residents of El Pensador.
To carry out household chores, residents are forced to buy water from tanker trucks. Those who have a tanker fill it up to twice a month, usually using the little money they have set aside for food.
“The situation is unsustainable. We are ready to protest in the streets if necessary, as it is not fair that we are suffering from a water shortage during these months,” said those affected.
Housewives pointed out that the situation will worsen even more with the start of the school year next Monday, as they need water to wash their children. In the meantime, the water bills arrive punctually and must be paid, despite the lack of supply.
Residents urged CAASD authorities to resolve this problem as soon as possible.
