The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and the National Electric System Operator (ONS) reported that the transmission systems serving Acre and Rondônia have been fully normalized since 8:40 pm this Thursday (22).
The power supply had been interrupted since 4:47 p.m., compromising the load that serves the North region. As a result, it was necessary to shut down 984 megawatts (MW), which affected the states of Acre (187 MW) and Rondônia (797 MW).
“As soon as the situation was identified, the Operator began joint action with the agents to restore power to the regions. The recovery of the service was completed in phases and communicated to society in website of the Operator. At 7:31 p.m., 691 MW had been restored, equivalent to 70% of the amount interrupted by the incident. At 8:36 p.m., 900 MW (92%)”, reported the ONS.
The causes of the incident are still being investigated by the operator, together with the agents. In a statement, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, recalled that Brazil has one of the “best system operators in the world, internationally recognized”, in addition to having “the best distribution parks on the planet, which allows us to provide this rapid response to the population”.
