The Vice President of Communication, Culture and Tourism and Minister of People’s Power for Communication, Freddy Ñáñez, spoke out after the decision of the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), on the electoral contentious appeal, where he pointed out that the highest court protected the results of the Venezuelan people on June 28.
For Ñáñez, Venezuelans “have witnessed an act of the highest institutionality that ratifies the republican character of our processes and our institutions; and that also confirms that everything that has been the process of the dispute has been reported in a timely manner, in addition to being public, well-known and transparent.”
With this decision issued by the TSJ, “our democracy is strengthened, our institutions are strengthened, in accordance with what is happening today in the streets, a spirit of peace, of normality and a desire that Venezuelans have for harmony and political resolution of any kind and that are governed by Venezuelan laws,” stressed the minister.
“All Venezuelans were expecting exactly this. Today our electoral power is strengthened because, despite the cyber attacks it suffered, the will of the people was safeguarded,” he said.
Ñáñez also called for every effort to be made to “communicate and disseminate in a truthful and transparent manner this event that will be remembered in history as an episode of the highest democratic level and highest republican value.”
Regarding the diplomatic corps present, the minister emphasized that it “has witnessed how the institutions in Venezuela work and the principle of sovereignty and self-determination of peoples, which is what guarantees that we have international law.”
“This episode is part of a precedent of what has happened in other countries around the world, where when there has been controversy in elections, a supreme court ends up deciding,” he said.
Finally, Ñáñez highlighted the role of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, as a constituent, “he was in the process of drafting the Constitution, and when the time came he appealed to the Constitution and sought in it a democratic, political and republican resolution, and that is where the height of the head of State and Government lies, who in a situation like this privileged two things, the sovereignty of the institutions and the peace of the Venezuelans.
