The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco, also reported this Thursday that the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) will reach a consensus with the legislators of that political organization on the divergent aspects of the constitutional reform project that is being processed in Congress.

“We are receiving opinions and we are still going to finish reaching a consensus on some aspects on which we are not yet fully in agreement. As the party president (José Ignacio Paliza) said, in general terms the PRM supports the reforms,” ​​he said.

Pacheco said that the congressmen of the ruling party should continue to “massage” the bill “a little more” to see what point the different opinions can converge.

Seeks to leave a legacy

President Abinader’s meetings with the Executive Directorate and PRM legislators took place behind closed doors. The presidents of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies were present, as were members of the presidential cabinet and the main authorities of the party.

During the meetings, which lasted more than two hours at the PRM’s National House, Paliza referred to structural reforms in the party.

He said that these proposals seek to provide political and institutional stability to the country, preventing presidential re-election from being a recurring issue with each new president.

He also stressed that President Luis Abinader is seeking to improve the conditions of independence of the Attorney General of the Republic and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
