Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic through the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and agents of the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD), supported by United States Marshals, extradited an American with Dominican nationality, accused in that nation of trafficking the powerful drug known as fentanyl.
This is Edwin José Antigua Ramos, who was transferred to Las Americas International Airport under extensive security by tactical and reaction units, where he was handed over to U.S. officials.
The 30-year-old man, already in custody, boarded a flight to the United States, a country that requires him to respond to a court in the Middle District of Pennsylvania, which accuses him of criminal conspiracy to distribute 400 grams or more of a mixture and substance that contained a detectable amount of fentanyl.

Antigua Ramos was captured in June of this year 2024, in Villa Naco, Residencial Terra XI, kilometer 14 of the Duarte highway, pursuant to the order (number 001-022-2023), issued by the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, which authorizes his extradition through decree 327-24, issued by the Executive Branch.
“This extradition is ordered under the condition that the American national and Dominican citizen, Edwin José Antigua Ramos, will under no circumstances be tried for infractions other than those that motivate his extradition,” states the Presidential decree.
The arrest and subsequent surrender of the extraditable person corresponds to the firm commitment of the Dominican Government to continue strengthening ties of cooperation with allied countries in the fight and persecution of transnational crime.
