The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, announced the first payment of the lifetime pension to the surviving heroes of the Patriotic Deed of January 9, 1964.
The executive’s decision is in strict compliance with Law 163 of September 10, 2020, which establishes benefits in recognition of the heroes of this transcendental date.
These are funds that the Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) transferred to the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES), which will carry out the payment procedure. In general, they will receive 1,200 monthly pension for life.
The first disbursement will be for an amount of $379,000 dollars to a total of 79 beneficiaries duly referred by the Evaluation Commission and who have complied with the established requirements.
It is important to note that the first payment corresponds to the months of March, April, May and June.
The amount of the life pension must allow the beneficiaries to live with dignity and well-being, taking into consideration the high cost of living, the basic basket, health, housing, water, electricity, clothing, transportation and other imposed situations.
The commission in charge of selecting the beneficiaries was made up of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Development, a representative of the Canal Sentinels Association and three members of the beneficiaries of Law 163 of September 10, 2020.
