The digital asset wallet, which turned 10 years old in 2024, highlighted that bitcoin, USDC and USDT are the assets in which Mexicans invest the most.
The fourth most sought-after asset by Mexicans are XRP and PEPE, a memecoin.
By age range, 37% of Bitso customers are between 25 and 34 years old, followed by 22% of people between 18 and 24 years old.
It is noteworthy that the price of bitcoin has seen a 49.6% increase in value while assets such as ethereum have increased by 53%.
Bitso operates in Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico, the latter being the country where cryptocurrency users are most diversified: while in Mexico 39% of users have 3 or more assets, the regional average is 36%.
Fraud prevention
In recent months, fraud has been the subject of investigations in the country. One of the most recent cases was that of YOX Holding, where a network was created in Jalisco that defrauded dozens of people of more than 33 million pesos.
To prevent these frauds from occurring on the platform, Felipe Vallejo, general director of Bitso in Mexico, said that the platform has articles that help users prevent fraud, for example: not trusting platforms that guarantee returns or those that promise large profits.
“The vision of Daniel Vogel, who is the global CEO of Bitso, was to say ‘let’s go a little slower with more security’ and it is reflected, it is not just words: we are the only crypto company in all of Latin America with crypto insurance,” said Vallejo.
