Santo Domingo.-The Permanent Attention Court of Santo Domingo Este ordered this Tuesday one year of preventive detention, as a coercive measure, against Ana Josefa Garcia Cuelloaccused of killing her six-year-old daughter.
“It was God who told me to take the knife and bring the girl’s head,” García Cuello said.
The court ordered García Cuello to serve the coercive measure at the Najayo Women’s Penitentiary Center, so that the Public Prosecutor’s Office can continue investigating to clarify the case.

García Cuello, a doctor and member of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), was arrested in flagrante delicto last Thursday, August 15, at her residence located in Residencial Razón 1 in the Isfapol sector of Santo Domingo Este.
Due to the seriousness of the events, the court determined that the accused does not have the necessary legal grounds to be tried with any measure other than pretrial detention.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office provisionally classified the incident as premeditated homicide and stalking, as established in articles 295, 296, 297 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code.
