Peru has left the dengue epidemic behind and has entered an endemic phase, according to César Munayco, director general of the National Center for Epidemiology, Prevention and Control of Diseases of the Ministry of Health (MINSA), who spoke to Canal N.
As of August 1, dengue is still present, but at more controlled levels. The situation room will update weekly and 116 confirmed cases have already been recorded.
The Minsa is working on acquiring vaccines and on a vaccination pilot in some regions. The population is key in prevention, eliminating breeding sites and using repellents in risk areas.
