Manchester City striker Phil Foden was named Player of the Year on Tuesday by Premier League footballers. This trophy rewards their role in their club’s fourth consecutive English league title.
Foden, 24, scored 19 goals and provided eight assists for the team coached by Pep Guardiola in the 2023-2024 season.
“Winning this award is very special for me, “I’m very proud of him,” said the English international, thanking the Professional Players’ Association (PFA) for this “recognition” during the ceremony.
He outperformed his teammates Erling Haaland (last year’s PFA award winner) and Rodri, as well as Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Martin Odegaard (Arsenal) and Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa).
Cole Palmer, scorer of 22 goals in the last league, He was voted Young Player of the Year at the PFA Awards. This is the first time since the 2009-2010 season, with Wayne Rooney and James Milner, that two Englishmen have won these two awards in the same year.
