The Ministry of Justice and Public Security authorized, this Tuesday (20), in Brasília, that agents of the National Public Security Force remain working in Rio Grande do Sul for another 30 days.
As established by Ordinance No. 759signed by Justice Minister Ricardo Lewandowski and published in Official Gazette of the Union From today, the federal troops sent to the state will continue to act in ostensive policing, search and rescue actions.
National Force agents will also continue to support local security forces in carrying out activities and services essential to preserving public order and the safety of people and property.
The 30-day period has been in effect since yesterday (20) and will end on September 17, when, if necessary, it may be extended again.
Help for victims
Part of the staff of National Public Security Force is working in Rio Grande do Sul for almost four months, helping to rescue victims of the consequences of the heavy rains that hit the state between the end of April and May and maintaining law and order.
Composed of military and civil police officers, including firefighters and experts temporarily assigned by states and the Federal District, in addition to federal agents, the National Public Security Force is subordinate to the National Secretariat of Public Security, of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
It can be used anywhere in the national territory, at the request of governors or ministries that need support to carry out their actions.
