The fastest cars in the region met at the Panama Autodrome to compete in the third and final date of the National Acceleration Championship, which closed with a flourish and record-breaking a season that marked the historic beginning of Panamanian motorsports.
In front of thousands of fans, the third round, run on a new track measuring 402 metres long and with a braking area of 500 metres, designed especially for the category and with the highest safety standards, kept everyone’s adrenaline pumping as the stopwatch exploded with new times.
It should be noted that all the invited Central American cars improved their personal bests, starting with Josue Rodríguez (Donga), 7.699, who achieved the Central American record. Also improving were Livang Argüello MK5 Supra, 9.1; Keren González, Audi TTRS, 9.2; Gilberto Vargas, 8.3, Datsun Coupe; Oscar Martínez, 8.4, Rx7 2jz and Fedrerico Herrera Quesada, 10.1, Datsun Pick up.
Among the nationals, Ariel González, 7.8, Camaro; Germán López, 8.9, the fastest Mustang in Panama; Jonathan Camacho, 9.7 Mustang; Christopher Lyma Young, 9.3; Juan Carlos Carvajal, 10.8, entered 10 and Freddy Guzmán Supra MK5, fastest in PTY, 9.4.
The winners of the third round were, in the 8 seconds category, Ariel González, Gilberto Vargas and Oscar Martínez, first, second and third, respectively. In the 9 seconds category, it was led by Germán López, José Carlos Ortega and Livang Argüello.
In the 10-second group, César Morcillo, Francisco Erinna and Edwin López occupied the podium. In 11 seconds, Abilio Castillo, Jesús Adames and Edgar Atencio; while in 12 seconds Luis Bolaños and Harold Gómez stood out.
The first places in the 13-second category went to José Jaén, Ulises Abadía and Diego Botello. In the 14-second category José Cedeño, Jairo Tapia and Will Alba and in the 15-second category Juan Rangele, Jorge Phillips and Silka Zuñiga.
Speed was also felt in motorcycling, in 600cc Carlos Sánchez dominated and in 1000cc, Miguel Villarreal, Eduardo Reyes and Roberto Ríos.
Autódromo Panamá reiterates its call to drivers, that if they want to race, they should do so safely.
