Internacional showed their power of recovery to win the Brazilian Women’s Under-17 Championship title by defeating Grêmio 4-3 in a penalty shootout, after a 2-2 draw in the 90 minutes, on Monday night (21) at SESC Protásio Alves, in Porto Alegre. Reaction power
Despite winning the title in the end, Internacional did not start the final well, as they saw the Gurias Gremistas open the scoring after just 47 seconds of play. After a good play on the right wing, the ball was lifted into the area, where Maria found space to control and shoot, leaving goalkeeper Camilly with no chance. From then on, Internacional created the best opportunities, but Grêmio showed competence to hold on to the advantage until half-time.
The final stage began with a similar script to the first half, with Grêmio opening the scoring very early, this time in the 3rd minute, when Helô stole the ball in Internacional’s defensive field, ran free and, from midfield, hit a lob to score her goal.

Faced with such an unfavorable score, it was up to Inter to go on the attack. With that, the Gurias Coloradas managed to reduce the deficit in the 35th minute, when Piauí took advantage of a ball lifted into the area to finish, which Josi partially saved. And the center forward showed composure to take advantage of the rebound and put the ball in the back of the net.
From then on, the pressure from the reds increased even more and the tie finally came in the 44th minute, when defender Milenna took advantage of a corner kick to rise high and head the ball to equalize the score. As the tie lasted until the end of the 90 minutes, the title was decided in a penalty shootout.
