The government of the state of São Paulo starts today (19) a campaign to vaccinate against covid-19 in state, municipal and private schools in the state. The initiative, called Week E, runs until next Friday (25) and aims to increase vaccination coverage of children aged 5 to 11 years. 
Students can only be vaccinated with the permission of their parents or guardians. However, the presence of parents is not mandatory, just a document of agreement with the immunization against covid-19. The term has already been made available and can be withdrawn by parents and guardians in schools that join the initiative.
“Schools have always been great allies of vaccination and will once again be a differentiator in achieving our vaccination goal. We hope that a large number of municipalities can join the initiative to protect our children”, highlighted Regiane de Paula, Coordinator of the State Immunization Plan (PEI).
According to the State Health Department, parents should obtain information through the communication channels of the city halls, responsible for the local vaccination strategy, to find out which schools will participate in Week E.
São Paulo currently has 60% of the child population vaccinated with the first dose, totaling 2.4 million doses applied, according to data from the Vaccinometer.
