“This decision is of vital importance in the defense of the autonomy of the Judicial Branch of the Federation, a pillar of our democratic system and, therefore, today, workers and judges have decided to defend in unity: the Republic, judicial independence and the separation of powers to guarantee the future of future generations,” they say.
This suspension of work will take place as of the first minute of August 21 in all federal courts and tribunals in the country, but with exceptions that will be specified later.

So far, at least 18 states have gone on strike: Mexico City, Baja California, Colima, Coahuila, State of Mexico, Guerrero, Michoacan, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo Leon, Oaxaca, Puebla, Queretaro, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Tlaxcala, Zacatecas and Yucatan.
The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) suspended tomorrow’s session, Tuesday, as it announced that ministers will hold a private session at the headquarters of the High Court to analyze the draft opinion of the reform to the Judicial Branch.
The proposal, which will be discussed next week, has more than 100 modifications, compared to the one sent by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, such as that the election of members of the Judicial Branch will be staggered. However, although it has modifications, it maintains the proposal of the federal president, which is to elect judges and ministers by direct vote.
