The Valle del Cauca native, just 19 years old, landed in Bogotá to join the team that is preparing for the World Cup in this category, where she will compete in her second U-20 tournament.
The Spanish club agreed to loan Caicedo out, recognising his value and experience, so that he can join the squad that hopes to make its mark on the competition and advance to the final stages.
In his first participation in a U-20 World Cup, Caicedo played four matches and scored two goals, demonstrating his potential on the international scene.
Colombia’s last appearance at this level was at the U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, where the team, coached by Carlos Paniagua, reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated by Brazil in a narrow 1-0 draw.
Now, with Linda in their ranks, expectations are set on surpassing that result.
The U-20 Women’s World Cup will begin on August 31, and Colombia will debut against New Zealand at 6:00 pm at the El Campín stadium in Bogotá.
Linda Caicedo: a key player for the National Team
Despite her youth, Linda Caicedo has great recognition in Colombian women’s football.
His performance in international tournaments is outstanding, including his participation in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
One of his most notable achievements was at the 2022 U-17 World Cup in India, where he led Colombia to runners-up after facing Spain in the final.
The former Deportivo Cali player has accumulated experience and recognition, including the award for best CONMEBOL U-20 player in 2022 and second place as best player in the world at The Best awards.
