The first IAD regional pre-congress begins in Azua

Azua: The Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD) successfully began this Friday its first regional pre-conference in the province of Azua, with a view to celebrating the 60th anniversary of the institution, as well as the beginning of the process of transformation and institutional reform.

The general director of the IAD, Francisco Guillermo García, stressed that “these pre-congresses are intended to reach conclusions that allow the transformation and change of the IAD, which is to turn each of the parceleros who belong to the entity into agricultural entrepreneurs.”

He specified that it is time to begin to overcome the obstacles that have been presented since the foundation of the institution, in order to raise the quality of life of the beneficiaries of the Agrarian Reform and their families and forget about the old practices, at the same time , implement business plans that help them improve economically and socially.

García stated that, with this institutional reform, he also wants to convert all the associations of parceleros into cooperatives, in order to ensure that the beneficiaries of the Agrarian Reform can see the advances obtained from the lands they own.

On her side, the provincial governor, Angela Pérez, highlighted the great work that the IAD has been carrying out with García’s management, with which “the IAD is focused on these reforms for the improvement of the field, with the delivery of titles a great national project is being developed”.

He explained that, with the start of this pre-congress today in the province of Azua, the new work project of the IAD will be seen “and you farmers, producers and leaders of the southern region, are the protagonists.”

During the activity, different topics were developed with the aim of listening to new ideas that help transformation and alternatives for institutional change that contribute to the strengthening and growth of the agricultural sector.

They were present, José Cedeño, Administrative and Financial Deputy Director; Geovanny Wallace, assistant director; Lover Vargas, regional manager of the IAD in Azua and Juan José Vicente, representative of the mayor, Ruddy González.

In addition, the speakers, Ramón Porfirio Colón and Romer Arnaud, responsible for Production and Social Development, respectively, Ramón Soto, responsible for International Cooperation, Ana Araujo, Yexica Chía, Ángel Inoa, farmers, community leaders, agricultural students, among other groups of interest.
