Santo Domingo – In an effort to prevent conflicts of interest and contribute to the transparency of the purchasing system, the General Directorate of Public Procurement (DGCP) announced this Monday the ex officio suspension of the State Supplier Registries (RPE) of two senators and 20 deputies who were elected for the 2024-2028 period.
According to Resolution No. DGCP-DG-02-2024, these officials are included in the Disqualification Regime established in Article 14 of Law 340-06 on Public Contracts, which indicates that members of the Legislative Branch cannot contract with the State to supply goods, works and services to government institutions until six months after leaving office.
The general manager of Public ProcurementCarlos Pimentel reported that this measure does not constitute a sanction.

He explained that the information of the people who hold positions of deputies to the National Congress, the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) and senators, as well as related commercial companies, was cross-checked, resulting in the suspension of the RPE of 22 elected officials in which they present a corporate participation greater than ten percent (10%) of the share capital.
Through a press release, the governing body reported that the administrative act containing said decision was sent to the Comptroller General of the Republic and the Chamber of Accounts for the corresponding purposes.
