AREQUIPA, Peru – New problems related to the television blackout are once again affecting Cubans across the island. This is happening despite official sources who have reduced the problem to a mere “technical problem” that will soon be resolved.
At 1:00 PM this Monday, official journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso reported on your page Facebook reported that there was “another impact on the standard analog and digital TV signal” according to reports “from various places in the country.”
The problem initially became known this Sunday around 9:45 PM, and mainly affected the channels transmitted through the digital terrestrial television (DTT) in its standard format, while high definition (HD) signals and radio continued to operate.
In a post on CubaNet’s social media, users expressed their displeasure with the interruption of the television signal, a fundamental means of entertainment for Cubans in the context of the current crisis.
“I haven’t had an HD signal for a long time and the analogue channel looks terrible. At 9:00 PM every day the channel goes down. You can’t watch the soap opera properly,” complained an Internet user identified as Tania Cava.
“My God, when I have power I have no signal,” wrote Millin Betancourt.
“In Jiguaní, Granma, he also left just when they were broadcasting Following the trail“, said a Cuban with the Liumi Rojas profile.
“Yesterday the TV signal went out and there were also problems with Banco Metropolitano and payment platforms,” lamented Carmen Viciedo, another user.
The RadioCuba company, responsible for the distribution of television signals on the Island, issued a statement limiting itself to saying that the interruption was due to technical failures in one of its transmission equipment, without offering details on the specific causes of the incident.
This television blackout occurs in a context of deteriorating communication services in Cuba. As the aforementioned comments point out, coincidentally, on the same day, there were reports of disruptions in digital banking services of the country.
