Attractive matches, full of goals, excitement and, in some cases, anger, were experienced on the afternoon of this last Sunday in the first date of the second phase of the Junín Departmental Stage, of the 2024 Peru Cup. For Group A, the results were for the locals. Atlético Chanchamayo defeated Echa Lolo (Chupaca) by 2 – 0, at the Municipal de San Ramón stadium; the other match between Municipal Usibamba (Concepción) and CD Ferretería Meza (Tayacaja), was a 3 – 0 win.
In Group B, Defensor Cormis (Jauja) won by the minimum difference 1 – 0 against Municipal Perené (Chanchamayo), the fans of the Central Jungle traveled more than 4 hours in the back of a truck, to cheer on the team of their loves. The other match between CD Progreso (Tayacaja) and Defensor Concepción, played in the district of Colcabamba, in Tayacaja, Huancavelica, ended in a tie of 2 goals per side.
In Group C, the Tarma champion, Progreso Muruhuay, hosted the Satipo champion, Municipal Pangoa, in a very attractive match that ended in another 2-2 draw. The other clash was between Deportivo Sucre (Huancayo) against Unión Sacas (Jauja), despite the wide dominance of the locals, the match ended in favor of the Huancaínos with a score of 2-1; this ended up generating discomfort in the visiting team, whose fans ended up throwing bottles onto the field, causing the match to end with two more minutes to play.
Outside, another group of Jauja fans also waited for the visiting team’s coach, Luis Ayles, to try to attack him. Everything was controlled by the Peruvian National Police.
In Group D, Alipio Ponce (Satipo) won by a landslide of 4 – 1 against Municipal Huayre (Junín), this result allows them to place themselves at the top of the table in their group. On the other hand, Juventud Cocaya (Yauli) was the only team that lost at home, this time against Atlético Wanka (Huancayo), who placed second in their group and with serious aspirations of moving on to phase III.
