The authorities’ commitment to improve sheep and goat breeding and to strengthen the supply of meat and milk is highlighted
Pedernales. In its ongoing effort to strengthen and modernize sheep and goat breeding in the southern region of the country, the General Directorate of Livestock (Digega) delivered resources in the province of Pedernales.
For such purposes, they were delivered RD$ 1,820,000.00 in resources, which includes 19 purebred sheep and goat studs, as well as materials for the construction of 15 shelters, corrals and other essential implements such as nets, nails, fences, staples and barbed wire.
This initiative is part of the “Project 02 for Strengthening Sheep and Goat Farming in the Border Zone“, aimed at promoting the development and maintenance of production in this key area.
During the event, the general director of Livestock, Abel Woodhighlighted the institution’s commitment to improving the quality of sheep and goat breeding, and stressed that this initiative responds to the guideline to strengthen the supply of meat, milk, cheese and other derived products, essential for the hotel and tourism sector in the area.
Additionally, the entity announced that agricultural producers on the border with Pedernales will receive training courses in the production of dairy products such as cheese, yogurt and boruga, thus expanding their opportunities for economic development.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the President for his continued support, noting that it remains vital for the progress of producers in the southern region of the country.
