The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET) predicts that showers and isolated thunderstorms will occur today in the afternoon and part of the night over the provinces of Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña, Dajabón, Valverde and Monte Cristi.
Indomet is monitoring the path of Ernesto, which has once again reached hurricane status and was last night 840 kilometres south of Halifax, Nova Scotia, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph, moving north/northeast at 28 kph. For the moment, this phenomenon does not pose a threat to the Dominican Republic.
Temperatures are expected to remain hot due to the incidence of Saharan dust and the time of year. The maximum temperature will range between 33 °C and 35 °C and the minimum between 24 °C and 26 °C. In Greater Santo Domingo there will be scattered showers and isolated thunder.
