“I want to thank you on behalf of all of Nuevo León, because the president helped us with many issues: water, security, mobility, among many others. Thanks to the president we were able to build the Cuchillo 2 aqueduct in record time and the Libertad dam is coming, and with the rains we have water, Mr. President,” said the governor of Movimiento Ciudadano.
He said that if with López Obrador Nuevo León “things went well”, with Claudia Sheinbaum things will “go better”, as he asserted that “the best” three years are coming for the state. He commented that he has asked the team of the next president for support in the construction of the Interserrana highway to reduce the travel time for people traveling from the south of the state to Monterrey.
When it was the president-elect’s turn to speak, the attendees at the event once again booed and shouted “boo” at Samuel García. Claudia Sheinbaum intervened and asked for “a round of applause for everyone,” while placing her hand in a “stop” sign.
On the contrary, López Obrador and Sheinbaum were greeted with “president, president” and “president, president” and “it is an honor to be with Claudia today.” This is not the first time that opposition governors have been booed at Morena events.
That Saturday, August 17, at an event in Jalisco, the state governor Enrique Alfaro was also booed and shouted at from “out, out” to “thief.” The member of the MC asked “respectfully” to be given the opportunity to welcome López Obrador.
“There are still many people who hope that confrontation will provide a path for this country; there are still many people who have not understood that we are in a moment that shows what can be achieved,” declared the member of the MC, but, when he could not continue, Claudia Sheinbaum and López Obrador intervened.
“It’s a good day today, isn’t it? Let’s let the governor of Jalisco speak, okay? Who agrees to let the governor of Jalisco speak? I do. Go ahead, governor,” said Claudia Sheinbaum.
Another similar event occurred on July 21, when both Morena members attended an event in Querétaro, while the attendees also prevented PAN Governor Mauricio Kuri from speaking, so Claudia Sheinbaum and López Obrador had to intervene.
“Good morning everyone, I have something to ask you: The election is over and we all have to respect each other. Let’s let the governor of Querétaro speak, okay? Yes? Thank you,” said the president-elect.
These events, in which the elected governors participate, are part of the tour that López Obrador and Claudia Sheinbaum are undertaking as part of the government transition.
