On Saturday 17th, the number of deaths increased due to the explosion of a gas cylinder in the Unión neighborhood of Petare, Miranda state. The last confirmed death was that of Sandra Delgado, 37 years old, who was hospitalized due to the injuries she suffered during the accident.

According to one of the survivors of the explosion in Petare, what could have caused the tragedy was the ignition of a stove. Deivida Mayora He said the explosion allegedly originated inside one of the houses on the lower part of the three-story structure. In total, the building consisted of eight apartments.
Mayora also commented on how she experienced the unfortunate situation, in which her two daughters were also involved. “I was preparing the lunch box for me and my daughters and we went down. I managed to climb up to be able to get my 2-year-old daughter and the other one, who is 19,” she explained.
Among the victims were newborn twins, who died under the protection of their father, who also died. Most of the deceased were family members.
