The Comando ConVzla and opposition leader María Corina Machado called for a worldwide protest this Saturday, August 17, against the official results of the presidential elections of July 28.
In more than 300 cities around the world – including those in Venezuela – Venezuelans are invited to print out the minutes from their voting centers to take to the “Great Protest for the Truth” and thus demonstrate their discontent with the results announced by the CNE.
The demonstrations within the national territory had a starting time of 10:00 am. In Caracas, the meeting place will be on Francisco de Miranda Avenue, near the El Líder shopping center.

In the capital of the Andean region, the rally is taking place in the Plaza María del Carmen Ramírez in Barrio Obrero, San Cristóbal. With banners, Venezuelan flags, copies of minutes and images of Machado, supporters of Machado and González Urrutia have attended the populous sector of the city; The Nation.
Meanwhile, in San Felipe (Yaracuy), residents, political leaders and unions gathered in Plaza Cruz Carrillo in the La Ascensión development: they demanded the release of political prisoners and that the records be shown.
Attendees said they will be united in prayer for several hours with flags and candles praying for Venezuela. This concentration is taking place a few meters from the police command where the president of the Copei party in Yaracuy, Alfonso Andara, is presumed to be detained, reports Yaracuy Today.
The center of the Yaracuy capital woke up with “a broad” security deployment: officers from the regional police and the National Guard on Libertador and Caracas avenues, the local newspaper highlights.
Indio Mara Square, near the Libertador Barracks, is the meeting place for the opposition in Maracaibo (Zulia) on August 17.
According to journalist Jhorman Cruz, those present reported police and military presence in the vicinity of the square.
