What Copardom said about President Abinader's inaugural speech

Laura Peña Izquierdo reiterated the commitment to promote formal employment and tripartite dialogue to achieve adequate standards and legislation, including the modernization of the Labor Code, which she defined as one of the priorities that must be carried out in the short term, to promote the country’s competitiveness.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic- The president of the Employers’ Confederation of the Dominican Republic (Copardom), Laura Peña Izquierdo, valued the inauguration speech of President Luis Abinader as positive, highlighting the commitment of the government with the necessary reforms to boost national development.

“We believe in the efforts of the president and his government to provide the country with reforms that will lead to greater well-being and inclusion for the entire population,” said Peña Izquierdo.

The president of COPARDOM highlighted the importance of the reforms underway and any proposal that promotes productive development based on private investment.

He also celebrated stimulating the entrepreneurshipimproving the business climate and promoting public-private partnerships.

“At COPARDOM, we reiterate our commitment to promoting formal employment in the country and strengthening tripartite dialogue to achieve appropriate standards and legislation, including the modernization of the Labor Code, a pressing need today,” Peña Izquierdo emphasized.

The business leader also expressed her confidence in the president’s commitment to modernizing the Labor Code, as expressed in his speech. In addition, she proposed that the president continue to strengthen the Dominican Social Security System (SDSS) and take measures to encourage the formalization of employment.

“A modern Labor Code and a robust SDSS have an undeniable positive impact on people, the country and attracting investments,” concluded Peña Izquierdo.
