Former Minister Lizárraga is sentenced to 4 years in prison

Roxana Lizarraga, Former Minister of Communication in the administration of Jeanine Áñez, was sentenced to four years in prison for the crime of illicit enrichment. The determination was made by the TFirst Anti-Corruption Sentencing Court of La Paz.

The departmental prosecutor of La Paz, William Alave, in statements to Erbol, said that the former authority was prosecuted for suspicious banking transactions made between 2019 and 2020.

According to Alave, Lizárraga recorded 182 bank deposits totaling 247,072 bolivianosan amount that is not related to their income.

“I want to let them know that from a very young age I worked and studied at the same time. I worked for many years in a few private companies and for a short period in public service,” Lizárraga said in his defense yesterday (Thursday) before the judge, which was broadcast on his Instagram account.

One day later, the TFirst Anti-Corruption Sentencing Court issued its ruling.
